DO IT ANYWAY!

Hello again, my friends!

You all are likely familiar with the poem “Do It Anyway,” which is often attributed to Mother Teresa. After doing a little digging, I discovered that the original version was written in 1968 and is called “Anyway: The Paradoxical Commandments” by Kent M. Keith, who also wrote a book by the same title.

I don’t have the poem memorized, but in difficult situations, when I really don’t want to do the right thing, I often find myself saying, “Do it anyway, Andrea. Just do it anyway.”

I’ve been going through a bit of a rough patch lately, and RESISTANCE has been working really hard to attack my creativity.

So...

I came up with my own version of the “Anyway” poem.

It’s especially for creators like you and me.

Create Anyway

by Andrea Brett

When...

You feel tired and uninspired

Create anyway

You are buried under piles of papers, to-do lists, clutter, and deadlines-

and you are completely overwhelmed

Create anyway

All you really want to do is take a nap

or scroll mindlessly through social media

Create anyway

You got really hard news that has taken your life

in a direction you hadn’t planned on

Create anyway

Your big ideas and dreams aren’t feeling so big right now

Create anyway

You don’t have time, and everything else

seems more urgent and important

Create anyway

Random fears and insecurities are popping up at every turn

Create anyway

You find yourself losing interest in creating at all

Create anyway

Everyone else suddenly seems more talented than you

Create anyway

You feel hurt, sad, sick, lonely, angry, jealous, hopeless…

fill in your own blank_______

Create anyway!

When you are in a creative slump, the best thing you can do is CREATE ANYWAY! There really is no problem or concern or trial or fear that won’t be made better by creating. The act of consistently CREATING ANYWAY may just be what brings you out of your slump!

So, let’s keep creating no matter what!

Let’s do it together!

Always LOVE!

Andrea
